Summer is here and hydration is key! Here are some our herb and fruit infused water recipes:
1. The Classic- Cucumber Mint
Thinly slice one peeled (if not organic) cucumber and add to your water. Add 8 fresh mint leaves, whole or muddled, and place in glass or large water jug. Stir gently and place in refrigerator for 3+ hours.
2. The Twist- Lime Blueberry
Slice one organic lime into thin slices (leave the rind on). Add sliced lime and 1 cup of blueberries to a gallon-size glass jug or add smaller amount to one cup. Add water and stir gently. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours and store in refrigerator.
3. The Island- Pineapple Mint
One of my favorites! Peel and thinly slice about 1/4 of a pineapple. The more thinly sliced the pineapple, the more flavor it will infuse. Add to a 1/2 gallon-size glass jar with 10-12 leaves of fresh mint, muddled. Add filtered water to fill and stir until well mixed. Store in refrigerator.
4. The Millennial- Watermelon Basil
Add about 2 cups of finely chopped fresh watermelon a large jug or jar. Add 10-15 leaves of muddled basil and water to fill. Store in fridge for at least 4 hours.
5. The “Play it safe”- Strawberry Lemon
Add 15 fresh strawberries, washed and sliced to a 1/2 gallon glass jar. Add one sliced lemon with rind on and fill with water. Let sit at least 4 hours in fridge and enjoy.
6. The Tea Party- Blueberry Lavender
Add 1 cup blueberries, slightly muddled, and edible lavender flowers (to taste) into a pitcher. Mix in water and let sit for 30 minutes in refrigerator. Serve with or without the fruits and flowers.
7. The Sour Patch- Grapefruit Raspberry
Add one grapefruit, sliced with rind on, to a gallon-size glass jar. Then add 1/2 cup fresh raspberries, slightly muddled and add water. If raspberries aren't your friends add in a few sprigs of rosemary instead! Mix well and store in fridge for at least 4 hours.
8. The Island 2.0- Mango Pineapple
Peel and thinly slice one fresh mango and add to 1/2 gallon glass jar. Add 1 cup of chopped pineapple and water. Allow to infuse in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours.
9. The Party- Lemon Raspberry Rosemary
Add one sliced lemon with rind on to half-gallon jar. Mix in 1/2 cup fresh raspberries, slightly muddled and fill with water and a few sprigs of rosemary.
10. The Hardcore- Pineapple Jalapeño
Add one half of a small pineapple, including core, or about 5 slices to a large jar of water. Mix in slices of a jalapeño pepper (or other hot peppers) and add water to the mix. Let sit for 2-4 hours in room temperature before serving with ice.
